RPDropWeapon Changes
After some fiddling around with rpdropweapon, I noticed a few things that could possibly be changed to make it better/more realistic:
- When you pull your saber back after it's been dropped, it will fly through anything to get to you. Walls, glass, floors, anything. Perhaps it should be changed so that it doesn't fly through solid objects/surfaces. It could still fly through breakable surfaces (such as glass windows) and just break them on its way through. This would seem much more realistic to me.
- If you have two lightsabers and you drop one (always the right-handed one), the other one deactivates and becomes unusable. This becomes especially annoying in spars, when all of the sudden you're defenseless, despite the saber in your left hand. Maybe allow the left saber to stay ignited and you can continue to fight?
- If you use saber throw, you can't drop the saber while it's flying across. It'd be cool if you could enter the command while your saber is being thrown, causing it to turn off and continue flying in the direction it was going, though obviously stopping because of gravity. I think this happens in ja+ when you switch to melee while your saber is being thrown.

I like the idea, though your first point I don't see it possible in JKA, unless there is a collision code or a reactor code. I don't know if this is already
implemented in JKA SP since I have not played SP in a long while. But yes I like the idea for point one, and if its possible we should look into it.
Your second point I believe its possible to turn on your saber while the other one is on the ground, by hitting your middle mouse button. Don't hold me to it, but I seem to remember something of the sort. But if that doesn't work, yes something should be done.

Gotta agree with this, But on #2, would it be possible to drop both sabers at once? It's kinda odd seeing somebody who's right handed keep such a grip on something in their left hand when they get knocked down/Struck by level 4/5 storm or something like that.
I know I wouldn't be able to. =/

That's similar to something I'd also like to see, Ze'eal. It'd be nice for the two sabers to be independent of one another. As it is, your right hand saber is the dominant, whereas your left hand saber is just gimp w/out the right hand. Perhaps allow either or both sabers to be knocked out of your hands or dropped (/rpdropweapon left or /rpdropweapon right). Due to animation restraints, you could switch your left handed saber to your right hand automatically if you drop your right hand saber, and switching back once you pick it back up or pull it back to you. Oh, the possibilities!

- Handling collisions when pulling your saber:
- That should be possible without too much work I think, although I don't know about breakables. I'll add it to the TODO list.
Well, if there wasn't any collision code we would all fall in the voidShimi wrote:I like the idea, though your first point I don't see it possible in JKA, unless there is a collision code or a reactor code.. Like I said in another thread, please don't make assumptions about what is and is not possible in JKA - it's not because it's a relatively old game that it's not a good engine, and mods can do a lot too.

- Left saber:
- I don't remember seeing any animations or any kind of BaseJKA support to fight with the left saber, and it would be a LOT of work to implement it, with little benefit. As for dropping both sabers, it's basically the same.. there is no support for a second dropped saber in BaseJKA and I don't think it's worth the trouble of adding it.
So I'd recommend the same as Lynee (perhaps in clearer terms): if you lose your right saber and want to RP it, switch to a single saber and pretend it's your left one.

- Dropping the saber while throwing it:
- As you said: you can turn it off in mid-air to drop it (BaseJKA).

Would it not be possible once the first* hilt has been dropped to force you into a normal one handed weapon stance and just pretend it's your second hilt... or am i missing the point and confusing what's already been said? lolGabe Alkorda wrote:Yeah, there's no animation to fight with a left-handed saber, however the dual sabers stance could work, it'd just look a little botchy. Not a big deal though, if it's not possible.

That's exactly what I was suggesting, Kael. I realize now that keeping the dual stance would be just stupid lol. But yes, this is what I also suggested originally.Kael Sekura wrote:Would it not be possible once the first* hilt has been dropped to force you into a normal one handed weapon stance and just pretend it's your second hilt... or am i missing the point and confusing what's already been said? lolGabe Alkorda wrote:Yeah, there's no animation to fight with a left-handed saber, however the dual sabers stance could work, it'd just look a little botchy.
