I like the OJP Enhanced way of doing Force speed. It's more of an actual sprint rather than a set period of enhanced speed. The speed boost increases with the Speed level, whereas duration is limited by how many FP you have available. That way there's still a difference between a high-level character and a low-level character; the high-leve character doesn't necessarily have to be faster, but still benefits from having more stamina when it comes to Force usage.

My own personal feelings about this one is not the duration. Having a longer duration is nice if your a Consular who's Force Pool is large enough to cater for other abilities while speed is activated.
However for my case (and that of other Guardians or Sentients), Once speed is activated, you pretty much have enough Force Points left to perform one or two Jumps then you are stuck with no Force Points. This means I never use the full timer up on Speed as I'm always turning it off before it expires.
Thus extending the duration alone isn't much reason to take Speed beyond
level 1 or 2.
Although a certain amount of Force Ability would required for Speed, i'd say it was more of a Physical Trait than a mental one (say Hold for example) so it makes little sense that a more Physical-orientated character would be LESS likely to maintain Speed.
I dunno... I'd just like to see something else done with Speed.
Maybe even some Force Pool regen at a slower rate.
