I don't think simplifying emotions would necessarily be oversimplifying them.

And while the "quick notification" via PM or global works... it takes away the subtlety of having emotions.
Its like waving your arms frantically and shouting "HEY I'M ANGRY NOW! PLEASE REACT!"

I agree, the subtlety of emotions can really have a profound impact on how you play your character and how others react, but if people listen they can pick up on things.

With subtle words, or pro use of the /me command, you can give hints to your mood, and even leave it a little more vague so no subtlety is lost.

/me smile falls slightly

/me releases a quiet sigh

etc. If you go at it the right way, you can make it work.

Yeah, ::'s works fine. This just adds a different spin to it. If it can be added and easily, then maybe add it. However, not the scrollable thing I think. Though really, ::'s suffices.

They can do a lot, but not everything. Besides, sometimes having a little extra add on is neat.

Agreed.

Crazy idea. instead of making it a force power why not have the crosshair change to a color appropriate to the person's emotions at the time? I'm sure there's some team hack that could be implemented
But that would allow a not-force-sensetive to see it. I think adding it into sense ability would be more.. matching?
What does force have to do with sensing emotions? Irl you can tell when your friend is down and happy, you don't need a cosmic power to determine his aura so you can confront him about it, do you?

Emotion is universal and doens't require force.

I see the Force sensing of emotions as more in-depth, that and you could tell a bit more whether the feelings are masking something else, that you're barely touching the surface of the truth.

What if you could only sense the emotions of those that you're bonded with?

That's also A good idea but possibly more complicated.

How is that complicated? It's merely just sending a '::' message to the bonded person.

There is a pre-existing feature of "Bond Chat" between players. In my experience with it, it was quite fluid when being used displaying emotions and the likes of short statements. Though, we can do that with anyone, even bound with team chat via say_team_mode tell <player>.

As for the main sensing moods suggestion, I feel even if it were possible through the use of Sense, we should seek to retain the simplicities of \me unless there is a dire need for a new feature.
