That's exactly what Nira suggested Elu lol

This can be done in a matter of minutes. No need to make classes for gunners. Accounts work just fine.

Heh, good point, the reason I suggested the force abilities was you would expect them to have training in other areas to help them with their specialised roles, but I guess we can forget what I said about force abilities and stuff, the current classes are fine, just tweak them slightly so they have certain weapons.

I got the 'Sniper, Vanguard, Spec. Trooper' idea from Star Wars Battlefront 2 and was just curious as to what you might think if I suggested it, doesn't hurt to try every once and a while ;).

Sorry, I was getting confused between "Classes" and "Accounts".
Stupid moment.

But this suggestion is starting to sound like this ancient suggestion.
Not trying to hyjack it of course, I'm just saying either suggestion could work:
  • Seperate RP accounts with lowish HP and specific load outs. (Which would be the quickest sollution and does not require Soh to alter RPmod.)
  • Add an extention to the "merc" command that would give single weapons or a specific weapon load out. (This however, would require Soh to alter RPmod.)
I'd normally suggest making this in a new thread so that Sared's initial suggestion remains intact but since we already have 4 suggestions trying to alter the gunner role, I'm not sure if it would just make things worse. :P

I believe that is already do-able, for those with God admin or Council group accounts?

/rpsetaccount <username> <field> <new>
Set a field to a new value for a given Account.
<field> can be: fullName, password, xp, className, rank, adminRank, forceBonds, forceTemplate, forceTemplateMax, modelScale, forceSide, restrictedSabers, weapons, ammo, items.
<new> may be 0 if you want to remove the current value and reset to default.


Councillors(High Councillors only?) can alter accounts like so:

/rpsetaccount <accountname> "weapons" <weaponname>

I say do both, since they both have entirely different practical uses. The first point would be excellent for anyone looking to run a scenario on Galaxy. However, if a Knight for whatever reason wishes to grant a student access to a weapon, then things such as scale come into play and the latter option is infinitely more preferable. It saves going through the motions of mercing yourself, dropping a weapon (potentially accidently having it picked up by someone else) and unmercing again.
