/rpignore OOC
After an incident in the server earlier, I just thought that an ignore OOC would be a nice command for those who don't like all the OOC chat that happens every now and then.

Erhem well if you want my opinion, I say JEDI of all people should read the OOC, for it could hold some importance, such as a member needing assistance, (which they can use PM for, but OOC is just more common) or a new rper needing help, etc. And there's a way to stop OOC chatter anyway...
(( Cut OOC. ))
(( Cut OOC. ))
Perhaps you could make it so there was (( random OOC )) and ((!! important OOC !!)). You would be able to ignore the casual OOC-chat that occours sometimes, but when someone's in urgent need, they'd use the emergency ((!! IMPORTANT OOC CHAT !!)), a chat that everyone could read and perhaps should stay a little longer on the screen.
Just a random thought.

Plus, if there were 'important' and 'regular' OOC chat like Larkit said, that defeats the purpose. Since obviously what everyone has to say is 'important', no one would want to use regular, and in the end, we'd end up with more OOC than ever.
So, we should just all learn to use OOC right...again, as Jamus said.

If this idea is used, people will end up using usual OOC excessively without even batting an eye. And important OOC will only be used very rarely anyways then. And besides, what should be normal OOC and what should be important OOC? What your grandma has done today should be normal OOC? Or when you go out with our dog? Seeing how people use the current OOC-system, the whole server will mutate to a OOC-only-chatroom with that suggested idea.Larkit wrote:Perhaps you could make it so there was (( random OOC )) and ((!! important OOC !!)). Acceptable that you say admins need to be more active or not-so-often afk, but think about that: If there wouldn't be any OOC-chat-abuse, OOC-chat-misuse or any similar OOC-chat-issue, would admins even need to watch people behaving? No, they would have one problem less on their shoulders to care about.Tarwacca wrote:Yeah, usually there are NO ADMINS THERE.
And if there are, they are sometimes AFK when it starts.
If you behave properly with a correct attitude (that means using OOC only for game mechanical issues, and ONLY for that), there wouldn't be a problem at all.
Although I am no admin, I can imagine that they aren't really up for having an eye on the players 24/7, watching out for any OOC-misuse or anything like that. I can imagine admins being relieved too if they knew the OOC-rules are obeyed at all times. But I guess that scenario is just utopian.
From what I've seen, if OOC chatting gets outta hand someone usually tells people to cut it out, others agree and it ends.
As for the whole "rank is an issue" thing, I have to disagree, just about everyone who plays with JEDI or is in JEDI know whats acceptable and what isn't, and when someone reminds them, they comply.
Sticky situations are bound to happen, but we've just gotta roll with the punches.
